What Wizardry is This?

Crazy new polish by OPI.  This is part of their Wizard of Oz collection (which looks pretty awesome by the way).  What's interesting you ask?  Well this is a textured nail polish, OPI calls it liquid sand and that's EXACTLY what it looks like.  It has a gritty feel which you get used to after awhile.  OPI had done a bunch of these types of polishes recently in their Mariah Carey collection but those were all sparkly nail polishes and so I think the effect was lost (sparkles already look kind of bumpy on their own).

At first sight no one else will really be able to tell that this is textured, so it kind of feels like your little secret.  Which also means that it's work appropriate :-)

What do you think of it?

Turned up Turquoise

I just realized that I haven't posted in 10 days!  eek!  So here goes...

When I tried China Glaze's Turned up Turquoise I didn't know what I was expecting ... but I can tell you I wasn't expecting this.  Don't get me wrong, I like it. Just not what I expected.  The biggest surprise? .. it's matte!  It didn't say that anywhere on the bottle and all the pictures I saw of it had a top coat on it so I was totally caught off guard.  But hey, if you don't like matte nail polishes, just put a glossy top coat over it and you're good to go.  Here, I used a top coat just on the tips.

The coolest thing about this one? ... it glows a bright green under black light!

Louvre Me, Louvre Me Not

So far I'm in love with the entire OPI French Collection ... okay there were some that I just skipped on purpose, but I love the ones I have.  This is a nice pinky-purple colour. With every coat that you put on it changes a little bit, the first coat is almost pink, and then it gets more purple as you apply coats.  This took about 4 coats which was a little annoying, but it went on easily enough.

Shower together

I feel like I'm really behind on my posts!  I've done my nails about 5 times since the last one but I think only two of them are picture worthy.  I've been totally obsessed with sparkles lately!  This, of course, means that I'm going through nail polish remover like a fiend. Kind of a love / hate relationship really.

I bought this blue on impulse thinking that it might be really similar to OPI No room for the blues ... but I was wrong.  It's one of my favourite China Glaze polishes when it comes to how easily it went on.  The sparkles made me happy, they had a blue gel type base with dark blue, light blue/green and purple sparkles.

Easy St.Patty's Day Nails

Let me start by saying that this was not my first crack at St.Patty's day nails, I tried, triangles, clovers, hats, stripes ... everything just looked so crazy!  So I settled on this, a nice simple look that still screams "Hand over that Guinness!!"

Essie Tiffany Sparkle

If you love sparkles as much as I do you'll have to get Essie Beyond Cozy.  Essie Mint Green Apple is nice, kind of a Tiffany blue/green colour.  Nice for the summer.  I don't like how it goes on, it takes 3-4 coats to get it to look like this and I messed it up and had to fix it about 3 times.  So a bit of a pain in butt, but nice once you get it right.

Eiffel for this Colour

I keep searching for purples that look good on me, they are so few and far between that I'm always surprised when I find one that works.  This is a nice jewel tone purple with just little flecks of pink when it hits the light.  Another win for the French OPI collection.

Running in Circles

Soooo ... I went a little overboard.  This started out as an attempt to do something for St.Patty's day ... it ended up with me trying a different pattern on every nail.  In my head it was super cool, in reality a little weird.  I liked the individual patterns though ... which one is your favourite??

I Have a Herring Problem

Ever since my big OPI splurge from beyondtherack.com I have been thinking about one colour that got left behind .. OPI I Have a Herring Problem.  I couldn't stop thinking about it.  Shimmery grey-blue, how could I have passed this one up the first time!  It haunted my dreams until I finally gave in. (Another shade that haunts my dreams is Parlez-vous OPI ... if you know where to get this one in Canada, please let me know!!!).  My fingers were in really rough shape that day so unfortunately the pics aren't the prettiest but I thought I'd share anyway, just because I love the colour.

Flower was made using Bundle Monster plate 313 and a silver polish .. Rimmel I think.
